More occupants means more required load capacity, which changes the platform’s structural design, not just its size. Capacity also drives the required proof-test weight, since OSHA 1926.1431(j) requires proof testing at 125% of a platform’s rated capacity. A higher-capacity platform means a heavier proof test load, which has its own impact on the engineering and equipment involved in that test.
- Standard vs. custom configuration. Off-the-shelf configurations, sized and built to a proven design, are priced differently than a fully custom platform engineered to a unique set of dimensions, access points, or site constraints.
- Overhead protection. Falling-object protection is an available option on our platforms, not a standard inclusion on every configuration. Whether a job requires it depends on the work environment.
