SECO3-900 Square Professional Man Basket With Overhead Protection
Product Description
The SECO3-900 is the three-person square Professional crane-suspended man basket with overhead protection in Lifting Technologies’ lineup, sized for small crews that need a protected square work area under the crane hook. Its 48″ by 48″ platform provides a balanced, symmetric footprint that comfortably accommodates three workers and their tools while remaining compact enough for many structural and plant layouts.
Professional overhead models are built with a high-strength 0.120″ wall square tubular steel frame and heavy-gauge steel floor grating to provide a durable, non-slip deck. Standard guarding includes 42″ high guardrails from the floor, 6″ high toeboards around the perimeter, and perforated steel sides from toeboard to mid-rail to help retain tools and small objects. An inward-opening access gate with a positive restraining device controls entry, and a full-perimeter inner grab rail serves as personal fall-arrest anchorage in line with OSHA 1926.502 Subpart M.
The SECO3-900 is 48″ width, 48″ length, with 900 lb maximum rated load capacity, a 1,125 lb test weight, and 525 lb basket weight. Overhead models provide about 79″ inside height from the platform floor to the overhead frame, and SECO3-900’s overhead protection uses perforated steel skylight panels 6′ 7″ above the floor to shield occupants from minor falling debris while allowing light and airflow.
Suspension is via a dedicated four-leg sling assembly made from 1/2″ 6×36 IWRC wire rope, secured to a master link that connects to the crane hook. Each leg attaches directly to the basket base using swaged fittings and safety-threaded clevis pins, forming a base-attached hoisting system that distributes load evenly and helps maintain a level platform under dynamic conditions. A fifth safety leg ties off to the load line above the overhaul ball for additional stability and compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1926.1431 personnel-hoisting provisions.
SECO3-900 standard orders include the overhead-protected platform, detachable test weight system, sling assembly, and training/Use and Safety Handbook materials.
Each SECO3-900 is proof-load tested at 1,125 lb—125% of its 900 lb rated capacity—before shipment. Platforms ship with proof-load certificates, inspection checklists, a documentation tube, and access to a Use and Safety Handbook and training video explaining OSHA rules and recommended inspection practices, supporting safe commissioning and ongoing use.
SECO3-900 is used in construction, industrial, and infrastructure settings where a three-person crew must work under overhead-hazard conditions—such as beneath active decks, structural levels, or overhead piping—and where a square, overhead-protected platform offers the right mix of crew space, compact footprint, and integrated protection.
Industrial Applications
Construction & Structural
On construction and structural steel projects, SECO3-900 is suited to three-person tasks such as multi-worker bolting, welding, inspection, and detail work at beams, columns, and platform edges. The 48″ × 48″ square plan gives each worker room to operate in a shared, symmetric space while remaining easier to position in tight frames than long rectangular platforms.
Overhead protection is especially valuable when crews are working beneath upper floors or active work zones where small tools, fasteners, or debris might be dropped; the perforated skylight panels provide shielding while still requiring good dropped-object prevention practices.
Industrial Plants & Maintenance
In industrial plants, refineries, and processing facilities, SECO3-900 serves three-person maintenance and inspection crews at equipment fronts, mezzanine edges, and localized pipe or cable runs where overhead piping or structures pose minor falling-object risks. The square footprint fits many equipment galleries and bay openings, and the overhead frame adds another layer of protection above existing plant controls.
Side infill panels and 4″ toeboards help prevent small items from falling off the platform, while the full-perimeter grab rail supports multiple lanyard attachment points for harnessed workers in line with facility fall-protection requirements.
Utilities & Infrastructure
For utilities and civil infrastructure, SECO3-900 is useful for three-person inspection or repair tasks at localized points—such as parapet segments, under-bridge access locations, or structural junctions—where overhead hazards exist from traffic decks or upper levels. The 48″ square overhead-protected platform fits beneath such structures while offering enough room for three workers to operate cooperatively.
The combination of overhead shielding, OSHA-compliant guarding, and a moderate square footprint makes SECO3-900 practical for tasks where scaffolding is not efficient and overhead risk must be mitigated with built-in protection.
Features & Benefits
Three-Person Square Work Area With Overhead Protection: The 48″ × 48″ square overhead-protected platform creates a compact but capable workspace for up to three workers plus tools in overhead-hazard environments, with a symmetric plan that simplifies orientation and positioning.
Professional-Series, OSHA-Compliant Construction: SECO3-900 uses 0.120″ wall square tubular steel, heavy-gauge floor grating, 42″ guardrails, 6″ toeboards, perforated side panels, an inward-opening gate, and a full-perimeter inner grab rail, aligning with OSHA 1926.502 fall-protection provisions for guardrails, toeboards, enclosure, and anchorage.
Base-Attached Four-Leg Sling Assembly With Safety Leg: A four-leg 1/2″ 6×36 IWRC wire rope sling attached to the basket base and secured to a master link, plus a fifth safety leg to the load line above the overhaul ball, provides stable, OSHA 1926.1431–oriented hoisting support for suspended personnel.
125% Proof-Load Tested With Unique Test Weight System: Each SECO3-900 is proof-tested to 1,125 lb (125% of the 900 lb rating) and is equipped with LT’s unique test weight system, sling assembly and training DVD, with proof-test certificates and inspection documentation supplied.
Durable Powder-Coat Finish and Custom Options: Professional baskets carry an electrostatic powder-coat finish (standard red with yellow test weights) to resist impact and corrosion; color and certain configuration details can be customized to match project or corporate requirements.
