What is a crane suspended material basket?

OSHA requires that personnel be transported on a separate platform than work materials. A material basket is a crane-mounted basket that is solely used for hauling work materials. OSHA regulations specifically state that:

No person shall be allowed to ride on material hoists except for the purposes of inspection and maintenance.

How do I know if my crane suspended material basket is safe?
